After watching this I came to the realization that I haven't been getting enough lackluster
establishing shots of significant locations. This made me laugh so hard I had to share it with you guys.
Cristina Valdivieso and I are headed to Chicago tomorrow to meet up with DSLR Champion Philip Bloom, rock star photographer Sara Collaton and some surprise guests. We will be headed to Zacuto HQ later next week for an epic showdown pitting Canon's line of DSLR's vs. Nikon's and a Panasonic. Who pray tell, will they be battling? 35mm film. Who will win? No one knows. Read more here. Stay tuned for more details.

I just wanted to share a link I found very informative and useful about shooting timelapses with
your DSLR. I learned a new trick from this and I will be applying it to the next one we shoot. Timelapse Tutorial
At IN[FOCUS] in Austin, I had the pleasure of meeting Don Pham. He's a great guy. It's not all
about the gear, but like any other filmmaker, whenI see shiny new gear I am drawn to it by some unseen force of nature. So, from across the room, the DP Slider had me in the clutches of it's tractor beam.
When I got up close and hands on, I was immediately impressed with the build of this.
Strong, sturdy, and buttery smooth. I was also very intrigued with the"V" series which is the
first time I've seen a vertical slider. So I had a chance to talk to Don Pham about
this wonderful invention.
"My name is Don Pham and I am an event filmmaker.I am also a mechanical engineer in the automotive industry.I also am a co-founder of IN[FOCUS].
I bought a slider and was very frustrated with its function during an event. It kept on sticking.Being an engineer, I knew I could design a better slider. After 6 months of research and building prototypes, DP Slider was created. DP Sliders are only 1 ¾” wide at the body so it is really easy to handle. The carriage guide is made of aluminum channel so it is very sturdy.Designed with roller bearings, the linear motion of a DP Slider is ultra smooth.A unique feature of DP Slider “V” Series is its ability to provide VERTICAL slide to emulate crane motion."-Don Pham
Now the unique ability of the DP Slider to emulate crane motion is also beneficial because it's not as obtrusive. It only takes up as much room as your tripod. When you are shooting a live event
and are confined to crowded receptions the "V" series real value is a combination of
discretion and added production value.

Don Pham has been kind enough to give free shipping and handling with-in the USA

I make no money off of this, he just did it out of the kindness of his heart. I
appreciate all the support you guys have given me, and from a hands-on perspective
this thing is a smooth operator.
One thing I really love about filmmakers using DSLR's especially
in the wedding field where photographers and "video people"
( as they have called us) have had a long and notoriously bad
relationship. DSLR's, despite the controversy the "f" word (fusion),
has brought, have actually brought the two fields closer. We understand
them better. Heck we are using the same equipment. So, I thought
I would share how Bryan Coward, creative director of Tampa Wonderworks Inc.,
is using DSLR's like theCanon 5D MKII
creatively to bridge the gap between photographers
and filmmakers.
Thank you to friend of Canon Filmmakers Jesse Anthony for bringing this to our attention.
Matt Workman shot this music video with the Canon 7D.
The compression for the web appears to be a little off perhaps because they wanted it to
work on slower connections as well. Anyway it definitely shows DSLR's have gone mainstream.
