About This Blog
This is a community effort to help further the ongoing education of professionals and hobbyists interested in shooting HD video with Canon's line of professional DSLR's. Namely the Canon 5D MarkII and the recently released Canon 7D. We will also feature work by users of these cameras to give them exposure and to create a place to be inspired by others. This is a friendly effort so if all you bring to the table is negativity kindly go somewhere else. WHOA! I was all set to order this puppy, but wait what's this about frame rates? According to BH specs this DOES not include all the frame rates of the 7D! you only get 1920x1080 @ 20fps, 1280 x 720 @ 30fps, 640x480 @ 30fps! The spokesman seems to contradict that. what gives?
That sounds like you are looking at the old version of this camera. Go to the B&H search box on the top right of this page and type in Rebel T2i that will send you to the correct one. The T2i will have all the frame rates of the 7D. The photo side will not be as good and it only has one Digic IV the 7D has two. I imagine the low light capability won't be quite as good but at $799 it still is a heck of a deal.
David you are looking at the T1i, not the T2i. The T2i does 1080p at 24p, 25p (PAL) and 30p while doing 720p at 50p(PAL)/60p.

As well as a boost from 15 to an EOS 7D-matching 18 megapixels (it's not the same sensor, though it is apparently 'very similar'), the EOS 550D gets a non-crippled full HD movie mode (1920 x 1080 at up to 30 fps, 720P at 60/50 fps, manual controls, external mic socket), upgraded metering and a smattering of smaller (but no less welcome) improvements.
Doh! yep I was looking at the T1i. thanks.
Does anyone know of an intervalometer/ timer remote that will work with this camera?
Stejahen,
Just google for it. here's one link

Actually, I believe the intervalometer from the post above will not work with the T2i. I do not have a T2i or 7d, but I am pretty sure they have different plugs.
You should get the intervalometer for the rest of the "rebel" line of cameras.

is the 5d mkII worth the huge price difference when looking at the 550d??
