Adobe CS5 Native Editing of DSLR Footage
The Question is how does FCP respond? I really don't want to have to go back to Adobe just because of this. FCP in my opinion is far superior in many other apects. Thoughts?

Did I just make 100 moves to get a Mac, to get FCP for nothing?
May be worth investing in Adobe Premier for the same day edit jobs($$$) using its full 64 bit power.
By the way, the CS5 Photoshop looks amazing. Now that is a must have.
Ummm. No. H264 is horrible for grading and any other intensive editing purposes. Also computing horsepower required to render multiple filters in a H264 timeline is insane. Don't rule out Apple yet. They haven't touched 64bit in FCP. And for the lackluster release of FCS 3 I would hope that they won't be resting on their laurels. Expect something of an announcement soon from Apple. They are juggling the iPad, iPhone ver 4 OS, and the new MacBook Pro line just dropped, very quietly I might add. They wont diappoint, just maybe the impatient.
I agree with Chris. Apple is likely working very hard at getting a 64-bit version of FCP done and stable. This also means rewriting the app in cocoa (FCP has a ton of old code in it) around Quicktime X (which right now only supports 1 codec).
As for the native editing advantage of CS5, I have to think that, at the end of the day, it would’ve still been faster to convert to ProRes when getting started.
