Canon 7D and T2i AGC Bypass Trick
4.22.2010
Audio out of these cameras is not good. You really have to record audio separately to get a good sound. However, the main problem with the audio recording on these cameras is the AGC. So take a look at this tutorial for a cheap DIY workaround.

Two questions:
1) If I was to plug my Rhode shotgun mic into one of the channels would it basically take out the "noise" from the AGC and sound as good as the Magic Lantern 5D firmware?
2) If I'm understanding this right, the point of the shuffle being plugged into one of the channels was it to just catch the "noise" generated from the AGC, correct?
this is genious !
i got to try it
Almost a perfect fix, this is brilliant. Oh how the human mind when faced with adversity suddenly steps up a gear and creates a solution seemingly from nowhere. Thanks so much for this.
AGC = Auto Gain Control. It boost the "volume" of the mic when incoming mic sounds are low. This adds noise.
The shuffle plays a constant sound into one channel of the camera (the splitter makes this possible). This keeps the AGC from kicking in on BOTH channels. The other channel (for your mic) is not boosted, so there is no added noise from the AGC.
Good work, IAMTHEMIKEB!
Thanks for sharing!
…but why do all of my videos have Ke$ha’s "TiK ToK" on the left channel now?
Actually that’s a great tip. Thanks!
Can someone confirm that they have tested this and it works? thanks
